Model
We start from your drawings or BIM model, at whatever stage they’re at. For an existing room, we start with a site visit and a tape measure.
Acoustics for new buildings and the rooms you already have.
We let you hear a space before it’s built, and we measure it again once it is.
Sound is architecture’s invisible material. We make it audible visible.
The best acoustic decisions are made at the sketch stage, when moving a wall costs nothing. We like to be there from the first drawings.
Clients and architects put on headphones and listen to the room as it’s drawn. Choosing between two options gets much easier once you’ve heard both.
Every prediction gets checked on site once the room is finished. If it doesn’t match the model, we want to know, and so should you.
We start from your drawings or BIM model, at whatever stage they’re at. For an existing room, we start with a site visit and a tape measure.
We test the room in established acoustic software and compare design options while they’re still cheap to change.
The model becomes something you can listen to. A voice at the lectern, a cello on stage, a busy café at lunchtime.
We measure the finished room and set it beside the prediction. The solid line is the model and the dashed line is the room.
Tyler Krome
ACOUSTIC ENGINEER
Came to rooms by way of automotive and consumer audio systems. Now focused on optimizing halls, classrooms and offices, and leads our measurement work.
Michael McManus
RESEARCH SCIENTIST
A physicist drawn to the way sound moves through space. Leads our modelling and speech intelligibility work and runs the listening sessions.
Chelsie Krome
PROJECT LEAD
Keeps every project on time and on budget. Trained as a sculptor too, and still sees a room as an object you walk through.
Lindsey Matetich
LICENSED ARCHITECT
Has led building projects all over Europe. Speaks the language of design teams, planners and permit offices, and makes sure our advice can actually be built.
We work with architects, developers, schools, universities and cultural institutions across Europe. We travel for surveys, measurements and listening sessions, and do the rest from the studio. A few recent projects are below.
A 420-seat concrete lecture theatre where the back rows couldn’t follow. Targeted absorption and zoned loudspeakers, installed over one summer.
STI 0.48 → 0.67 (REAR ROWS)
VIEW PROJECTA listed chapel becoming a chamber music venue. Freestanding reflectors and drop curtains give it two acoustic settings without touching the original fabric.
T30 3.6 S → 1.8 S (500 HZ)
VIEW PROJECTA stone station hall with unreadable announcements. We treated the room and the loudspeakers as one system and got the voice alarm through its test.
STI 0.41 → 0.57 (CONCOURSE AVG)
VIEW PROJECTA timber primary school with acoustic treatment built into the structure. Sixteen calm classrooms with the timber left on show.
T 0.95 S → 0.55 S (CLASSROOM AVG)
VIEW PROJECTA NEW BUILDING OR A ROOM THAT ISN’T WORKING. TELL US ABOUT IT.
